Editorial Policy & Standards
How Lifespan Vault separates editorial from commerce, verifies sources, manages conflicts of interest, and corrects mistakes.
Affiliate Disclosure
Lifespan Vault earns affiliate commissions on outbound product clicks that result in purchases. When you click through one of our links to a merchant and buy a product, the merchant pays us a percentage of the sale. You pay the same price either way. Editorial scoring and ranking are walled off from commission economics.
Full program list, commission ranges, and tracking-cookie behavior live on the dedicated affiliate disclosure page. A short disclosure also appears at the top of every product review page and in the footer of every email we send.
Editorial Independence
No advertiser, brand, affiliate program, or partner has approval or review rights over editorial content prior to publication. Brands do not see drafts. Brands do not select products for inclusion in buyer guides or rankings. Brands cannot pay for higher placement, inclusion, or favorable framing.
- No paid placements. We do not accept money for inclusion in reviews, rankings, or buyer guides — ever.
- No ranking-for-pay. Higher commission rates do not produce higher rankings. Our top-ranked sauna pays under 10%; we recommend it anyway.
- Sponsored content is labeled. If a brand sponsors a piece of content, that content carries a clear SPONSORED label and is excluded from editorial scoring.
- Editor has final say on retention. When a covered product faces regulatory action, brand issues, or quality decline, we update or remove the review — even when it’s an active commission source.
Conflicts of Interest
The Lifespan Vault editor-in-chief is also the founder of MyProtocolStack, a health-tracking SaaS used by independent clinics, longevity practitioners, and individual optimizers. Where a Lifespan Vault review covers a product whose data is integrated with MyProtocolStack (e.g. wearables with Apple Health export, lab providers with API integrations), that relationship is disclosed in the review.
Free product samples, loaners, and review units are disclosed on the specific product page they affect. Editorial staff do not accept paid speaking fees, consulting work, advisory roles, or equity from brands covered on Lifespan Vault. Any change in this posture would be disclosed publicly on this page.
Where a category editor has prior professional or financial history with a brand they’re asked to cover, that editor recuses on that brand’s coverage and the editor-in-chief reassigns the review.
Editorial Board
Lifespan Vault is building a category-by-category editorial board. Each beat editor has independent authority over their category, reports to the editor-in-chief, and is named publicly on this page. Board slots currently in recruitment:
Interested in a beat? Email ryan@lifespanvault.com with your background, prior published work in the category, and any disclosed brand relationships. Beat editors are paid; we do not accept unpaid editorial labor.
Source Verification
Every claim in a Lifespan Vault review traces to one of four sources, in this order of preference:
- Direct measurement on the Editor’s Bench. Numbers we measured ourselves carry the bench-test version (e.g.
LV-TP v1.0) alongside the value. - Manufacturer-supplied spec verified against the product page. Re-verified quarterly. Carries a
verifiedAtdate. - Peer-reviewed research. Cited inline with DOI or journal link for any claim about physiological effect or clinical use.
- Owner-reported data, named or anonymized. Aggregated from MyProtocolStack platform users (consent-based) and verified buyer surveys; sample size disclosed.
We do not source reviews from press releases, paid podcast sponsorships, or affiliate-network marketing copy. We do not run generative-AI-written reviews under editorial bylines.
Corrections Policy
When we get something wrong, we correct it. Visible corrections appear in two places:
- The corrected page’s
updatedAtdate is bumped, and a corrections note is added describing the change. Material corrections (a score change, a recommendation reversal, a factual error in spec) carry an explicit “Corrected on [date]” line above the relevant section. - Significant corrections are surfaced in the next newsletter issue under a Corrections heading. Subscribers see what changed and why.
- We don’t silently rewrite history. When a previously published recommendation changes (a score is cut, a product moves out of a top spot, a brand is removed for cause), the change is dated and the prior conclusion remains visible in the page’s correction note.
Spotted an error? Email ryan@lifespanvault.com with the page URL and what we missed. We aim to issue corrections within 5 business days of confirmation.
