Beginning: Sleep & Meditation is an audio app sold by subscription from Beginning OU, a company registered in Tallinn, Estonia. It is the app earlier sold as MindSpa, and its App Store seller name is SYNCTUITION OUe. You subscribe on beginning.com and sign in to the iPhone or Android app with the same account.
The library has three parts. Beginning gives two counts for its 3D sound journeys: 200+ on its partner, sleep, stress and mindfulness pages, its science PDF and one version of its homepage, and 185+ on a second version of the homepage. The journeys are built from nature recorded in real locations and arranged in levels from Level 1 to Level 10. The homepage gives each journey as 25 minutes, while the brand's own screenshot of a journey player shows a running time of 34:42. A sleep sounds section holds twenty 32-minute sessions, and a Background Music section plays continuous music and white noise, with one track in the brand's screenshots listed at 181 min. Beginning says its recordings blend binaural beats with the nature sound. There is also an in-app questionnaire the brand calls the Clarity Test: the homepage calls it short, and the brand's methodology PDF says the first test takes around 15 minutes across 30 to 40 multiple-choice questions.
The homepage says the 3D effect comes from sending slightly different sound to each ear and does not work without headphones or earbuds. The sleep page allows a session to play from a phone by the bed, without that depth. The Terms describe the content as streamed over an internet connection, and Beginning does not say whether audio can be downloaded for offline listening.
Where it gives ground is the fine print. The homepage sells one plan, yet the Terms name monthly and lifetime plans too. The homepage says the trial opens everything, while the Terms call trial access limited content. Refunds are narrow: the Terms give a 14-day window on site purchases to European Union citizens only, and app store purchases are final. A US buyer who wants to pay nothing has to cancel inside the trial, which the homepage says takes two taps on the account page.
The Terms are governed by Estonian law and carry binding arbitration with a class action waiver, which a subscriber can opt out of by registered mail within 30 days. How much is the Beginning sleep app per year?
On September 30, 2026, the yearly plan on Beginning's homepage was $47.99, billed once the 7 day free trial ends. Beginning's Terms bill renewals at the non-discounted rate current at renewal, with no second-year amount published. The App Store's Subscriptions box shows Premium Yearly at $95.99. We did not open checkout.
Is MindSpa the same app as Beginning?
Yes. A banner on beginning.com says MindSpa has become Beginning: Sleep & Meditation and that everything is right where users left it, and mindspa.com redirects to beginning.com. The seller in the Terms is Beginning OU of Tallinn, Estonia, registry code 12690286, while the App Store names SYNCTUITION OUe. Beginning does not publish how those two companies relate.
What does the Beginning free trial include?
Beginning's pages disagree. The homepage promises instant access to everything during a 7 day trial, and a partner page offers 10 days with all 200+ journeys. The Terms describe a free trial as free access to limited content. The partner page asks for a card up front and says it is charged only if you stay past day 10.
Can I get a refund from Beginning after I am charged?
Not as a US buyer, going by the Terms. They offer a 14-day refund from first payment on yearly and lifetime plans bought on the site, to European Union citizens only and limited to one refund, and call every other payment non-refundable. App Store and Google Play purchases are final. Cancelling before the trial ends is the published route to paying nothing.
What do I need to use the Beginning app?
An iPhone or iPad on iOS or iPadOS 15.6 or later, or an Android phone or tablet through Google Play, whose minimum version Beginning does not publish. Headphones or earbuds are needed for the 3D effect. The Terms list an internet connection for streaming, and whether journeys can be saved for offline listening is not published.
