The Renu Cold Stoic 3.0 belongs on a shortlist for a permanent home plunge with both heating and cooling. The deciding questions are whether the installation fits your property and whether you understand the chiller's coverage. Its five-year warranty headline does not mean five years of included chiller coverage.
This is a specification and ownership review, not a hands-on test. We checked the catalog, Renu's documentation and published purchase terms on October 7, 2026. We have not measured cooling speed, noise or running costs ourselves. Lifespan Vault may earn a commission from purchases through product links.
Quick answer
- Permanent home installation: The Cold Stoic 3.0 starts at $11,399 before tax and site work. Budget for moving and placement as well as the tub.
- Heating and cooling: Renu publishes a 37F to 104F range. That describes selectable operation, not an instant transition between temperatures.
- Warranty-minded buyer: Read the separate body and chiller terms before choosing an extended plan.
The purchase at a glance
| Decision | Published detail | What to check at home |
|---|---|---|
| Cold Stoic 3.0 price | $11,399 to $12,099, checked October 7 | Deck and cover selection, tax and site work |
| Power | 120V / 15A; dedicated circuit recommended on the specification page | Have an electrician confirm the actual installation |
| Body | 70 inches long, 33 inches wide at base/top, 35 inches high | The contoured body is wider at its widest point |
| Filled load | Approximately 1,155 pounds at 95 gallons in the specification sheet | Assess the supporting surface and additional occupant load |

Measure the installation, not just the rectangle
The equipment footprint is only the beginning. Renu's specification materials identify a wider point on the contoured sides, while its manual also requires space around ventilation. A narrow passage that clears the base may not clear the body. A corner that fits the tub may leave too little room for airflow or maintenance.
Walk the delivery route with a tape measure before placing an order. Include the gate, any turn between buildings, steps, the path from the curb, and the final approach. Record the tightest opening rather than the easiest one. Ask the delivery or moving contractor what equipment and access they need for this particular tub.
Then draw the installed arrangement with the step, cover storage and access to the service area. A floor plan that only works while the lid is on and nobody is using the steps is not a usable installation. If the intended location is a deck, raised floor or balcony, obtain a site-specific load assessment rather than dividing the published weight by the exterior dimensions and declaring it safe.
The user manual lists ventilation and handling requirements. Use the current model documentation with the person preparing the site. The manual and specification materials differ slightly on filled weight, which is another reason not to treat a rounded web figure as a structural design value.
A standard plug does not settle the electrical question
Renu's specification page recommends a dedicated circuit; other published material uses stronger wording. Treat the circuit as an installation question to settle in writing with Renu and an electrician. Do not interpret the familiar plug as permission to share an overloaded circuit or improvise an extension-cord arrangement.
The practical check is straightforward: identify the outlet location, confirm the circuit serving it, and have the professional assess the load and protection required for a wet environment. Do this before final placement, when moving the empty tub remains easier than moving an installed one.
For a heating-and-cooling model, ask how your intended use affects operation. Someone maintaining one temperature has a different routine from someone repeatedly changing between warm and cold settings. Published power figures do not establish the electricity bill for either household. Ambient conditions, setpoint, use and covering the tub all need to be considered; we have not measured their effect on this model.
What the warranty actually covers
Renu's residential limited warranty distinguishes five-year coverage from the water chiller's one-year term. It also sets maintenance, geography and residential-use conditions. Read the exclusions as carefully as the headline duration.
There is a separate extended chiller warranty. Its purchase-window wording differs across Renu's pages, so obtain written confirmation of the deadline and covered configuration. Do not assume you can wait until a failure occurs to buy additional coverage.
Ask who diagnoses a fault, who ships replacement components and who performs the work. A parts warranty and an on-site service agreement are different purchases. If you cannot carry out the work described in the policy, include that limitation in the pre-sale conversation. Save the written response with the receipt and serial number.
Routine care is part of ownership. The filtration system does not eliminate the need to follow the manufacturer's water-care instructions. A buyer choosing between this tub and a simpler setup should compare the routine they can sustain, not just the equipment they can afford.
Build a complete budget
Use this worksheet to compare quotes without inventing an installation price:
| Budget line | Amount to use |
|---|---|
| Selected tub configuration | Current written quote |
| Circuit or outlet work | Electrician's quote |
| Moving and placement | Contractor's quote, if needed |
| Surface preparation | Site-specific quote |
| Consumables and maintenance | Current recommended schedule and prices |
| Optional extended coverage | Selected model's current terms |
For scale only, dividing the $11,399 starting equipment price by 1,000 uses gives $11.40 per use. That is arithmetic, not a claim about lifespan, actual usage or total cost. At 500 uses the same equipment-only calculation is $22.80. Electricity, maintenance, taxes, repairs, financing and installation are excluded. The point is to test your own expected use before committing to a permanent fixture.
Where it gives ground
An integrated tub brings the equipment into one system, but it also commits space and money to that system. If you are still testing whether a home plunge fits your routine, the installation itself may be the wrong first purchase. If you already own a suitable vessel, compare a separate chiller route before discarding that investment.
For a broader shortlist, use our cold plunge guide, buyer's guide, and Renu overview. Compare delivered ownership requirements, not the lowest temperature printed on the page.
The Cold Stoic 3.0 is most compelling when you want a lasting installation, will use both its available functions, and have resolved placement and service expectations. The next useful step is a configuration-specific quote with the electrical, delivery and chiller-warranty questions answered together.
Does the Cold Stoic 3.0 need special electrical work?
Renu lists 120V / 15A power and recommends a dedicated circuit in its specification material. Whether your existing outlet is suitable depends on the actual circuit and installation. Have an electrician check it and ask Renu to resolve the dedicated-circuit wording before ordering. A standard plug alone is not an installation assessment.
Does the five-year warranty include the chiller?
Not for the full five years under the included residential terms. The water chiller has a separate one-year term. Extended coverage is offered separately, subject to its own conditions. Read the policy for your model and obtain written confirmation of the purchase deadline, service responsibilities and any shipping or labor costs.
Is delivery the same as installation?
No. The published offer describes curbside delivery in the contiguous US. You still need a plan to move and position a tub whose specified dry weight is 365 pounds. Ask about access, equipment and placement before delivery day, and have the final surface and electrical arrangement assessed in advance.
What should I budget beyond the starting price?
Start with the selected configuration, then add any circuit work, surface preparation, moving, tax and optional coverage. The $11,399 starting price checked October 7, 2026 is an equipment figure. We have no site-specific installation quote or measured running-cost data, so those amounts must remain separate until you obtain them.
