The best cooling sheets and pillows for hot sleepers

Every brand on this page uses the word cooling, and none of the 5 publishes a temperature result. Gokotta comes closest: it names an SGS coolness test and a report number, then says the report cover it has shows no number. So we compare what they do publish: the fiber, the weave, thread count and certificate numbers where they exist, how you wash it, what you can send back, and the price for the size you'll buy. Sheet prices are for a Queen set; pillow and pillowcase prices are for one piece.

QUICK ANSWER
  • Best sheets under $150 for a Queen: The Gokotta ClassicBreeze set is $104 for a Queen (verified 2026-10-27), $109 for a King and $110 for a Cal King, in a 310 thread count sateen of viscose from bamboo at a published 130 GSM, with a 16 inch pocket. The product page lists a 90-day return, but a return for preference has to be unused and unwashed, so you can't sleep on it first and send it back.
  • Best sheets if you want to sleep on them before you decide: The Bamboo Is Better Signature set is $299 for a Queen (verified 2026-10-27), and the same listing runs from a Twin XL to a Top Split King. It's a 300 thread count sateen of viscose from bamboo, and its product page gives a 60-night sleep trial, which makes it the one sheet set here you can sleep on and return. A $14.99 fee comes out of a cash refund, and one of its policy pages says 30 nights.
  • Best change under $70: A Promeed mulberry silk pillowcase in Queen is $41.99 at 23 momme, $61.99 at 25 momme or $68.99 at 30 momme (verified 2026-10-27), sold as a single zippered case. Promeed lists temperature regulation among silk's benefits without publishing a test, and its care guide calls for a cold, delicate machine cycle in a mesh bag and air drying.
  • Best pillow sold as cooling: The BEDGEAR Night Ice is $299.99 for a Standard or $349.99 for a King (verified 2026-10-27), the same price at all 4 heights from 0.0 to 3.0. BEDGEAR credits 3 cooling layers, a cover, a gel foam crown and a core, and publishes no surface temperature or test data. Opened pillows go back within 30 days, with return shipping on you.
  • Best firm pillow that isn't foam: The PineTales Buckwheat Pillow Platinum Edition lists at $119 for 14 x 20 inches or $199 for 20 x 26 inches, and its product page showed both $20 off, at $99 and $179, under a holiday sale banner (verified 2026-10-27). It's filled with buckwheat hulls you add or remove, under a cover with a bamboo-rayon side and a Cool-Touch side. PineTales says air moves through the hulls. Every sale is final: PineTales takes no pillow returns, not even unopened ones.
How to choose

Pick the fabric first, then decide how much return risk you'll carry

You wake up at 3 a.m., flip the pillow to the cool side, and kick the flat sheet off. That's the buyer this page is for. The sheet set covers the whole bed, so it's the bigger decision; the pillow and the case are the cheaper, faster changes. Work through it in this order.

  • Read the fiber line. Both sheet picks are viscose from bamboo, which both brands also call rayon. The silk pick is mulberry silk. The pillows are foam and fiber (BEDGEAR) or buckwheat hulls (PineTales).
  • Weave and thread count, where published. Both sheet sets are sateen, at 310 thread count on the Gokotta and 300 on the Bamboo Is Better. Only Gokotta publishes a fabric weight, 130 GSM. For silk, the number is momme: Promeed sells 23, 25 and 30.
  • Certificates, where published. Gokotta and Bamboo Is Better each print an OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certificate number, and we haven't checked either with OEKO-TEX. Promeed claims OEKO-TEX with no number on its product page. BEDGEAR claims none for the Night Ice, and PineTales names no certifier for its organic hulls. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is a test for harmful substances, so it says nothing about temperature.
  • Decide whether you need to sleep on it first. Return terms vary more than anything else here, from a 60-night trial to final sale. The table below lines them up.
How to read cooling on this page: it's the seller's word, every time. We attribute each temperature claim to the brand that makes it, we say when no test stands behind it, and we don't promise you'll sleep better on any of these. Bedding can change how a bed feels against your skin. If you're overheating every night, a water-cooled mattress system is a different category, covered in our best sleep tech guide.

The picks

One pick for each job, and where each one gives ground

01 · BEST SHEETS UNDER $150 FOR A QUEEN

Gokotta ClassicBreeze: the lowest sheet price here, and the most published fabric spec

$104 Queen, $109 King, $110 Cal King (verified 2026-10-27) · 100% viscose from bamboo · 310 TC sateen · 130 GSM · 16 in pocket, 4 corner straps · 1 fitted, 1 flat, 2 pillowcases

The ClassicBreeze costs about a third of the Bamboo Is Better set in a Queen and tells you more about its fabric: a 310 thread count sateen at 130 GSM, the only fabric weight either sheet pick publishes. Gokotta calls it breathable, moisture-wicking and cool to the touch. Its product page says SGS tested a white sample of the 310TC fabric for coolness between June 26 and July 8, 2026, under report SL92619325449801TX, and then says the report cover it has shows no numerical coolness result; we haven't checked the report with SGS. The fitted sheet has a 16 inch pocket, elastic around the full edge and 4 corner straps, and the product page says it fits 10 to 18 inch mattresses. Gokotta prints an OEKO-TEX Standard 100 number, SH025 252721, and an FSC number, C219337; we haven't checked either with the issuer. Sizes stop at Queen, King and Cal King, and the Cal King comes only in Storm, Dune and Snow. Where it gives ground: you can't try it the way a hot sleeper would want to. The product page banner gives a 90-day return, but a return for preference has to be unused and unwashed, return shipping is yours, and Gokotta's Shopify refund policy page says 30 days. The $104 Queen price shows against a struck $173 (verified 2026-10-27), with a sitewide code banner running on top; we didn't open checkout to see whether the code applies. Gokotta's own pages put the deepest mattress it fits anywhere from 15 to 18 inches, so measure a tall bed before you order.

02 · BEST IF YOU WANT TO SLEEP ON THEM FIRST

Bamboo Is Better Signature: the sheet set you can sleep on and send back

$299 Queen; $199 Twin XL to $369 Top Split King (verified 2026-10-27) · 100% viscose from bamboo · 300 TC sateen · 15 in pocket, straps rated to 18 in · 11 sizes · 60-night trial on the product page

Buy this one if you need a few weeks of real nights before you trust a fabric. The product page gives a 60-night sleep trial with free exchanges in the continental US, and a $14.99 fee comes off a cash refund (read 2026-10-27). One of the store's policy pages says 30 nights, so keep a screenshot of the 60 when you order. The fabric is 100% viscose (rayon) from bamboo in a 300 thread count sateen, sold in 11 sizes, including Split Queen, Split King and Top Split versions for adjustable bases. A Queen set is a 60 x 80 inch fitted sheet with a 15 inch pocket, a 92 x 104 inch flat and 2 standard pillowcases, and the brand says the corner straps hold mattresses up to 18 inches. Bamboo Is Better says the sheets sleep cooler than cotton and publishes no method; a figure of up to 3 times cooler that appeared on the listing in September wasn't on the product page on October 27. It lists an OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certificate number, BJ025 164353, and sends the certificate on request; we didn't look the number up. Where it gives ground: a Queen costs nearly 3 times the Gokotta, no fabric weight is published, the Top Split Queen and Top Split Cal King are made to order and ship in 7 to 10 business days, and the brand itself warns that the fiber picks up body oils and skincare more readily than a synthetic blend.

03 · BEST CHANGE UNDER $70

Promeed mulberry silk pillowcase: the cheapest swap on the page

$41.99 Queen at 23 momme, $61.99 at 25, $68.99 at 30 (verified 2026-10-27) · 100% mulberry silk Promeed grades 6A+ · zippered · sold as a single case

If your sheets are fine and the pillow is where you feel the heat, start here. Promeed sells mulberry silk it grades 6A+ in 3 weights, 23, 25 and 30 momme, written on its store as 23mm, 25mm and 30mm. Momme is silk's weight: a higher number is denser and costs more. We'd buy the 25 momme Queen at $61.99 (verified 2026-10-27), the middle of the range. Promeed lists temperature regulation among silk's benefits without a test behind it, and the same product page makes skin claims we don't repeat. It says its silk is OEKO-TEX certified and shows no certificate number on the product page. Where it gives ground: Promeed's care guide asks for a cold, delicate machine cycle in a mesh bag and air drying, and the return policy takes back only unused items in original packaging within 60 days of purchase, so a case you've slept on is yours to keep. It also covers the surface under your face and nothing else, which is the point and the limit.

04 · BEST PILLOW SOLD AS COOLING

BEDGEAR Night Ice: the pillow with the biggest cooling story and the least data

$299.99 Standard, $349.99 King, same at every height (verified 2026-10-27) · heights 0.0 to 3.0, no inch figures published · Standard 24 x 16 in · foam crown with cooling gel over foam and fiber fill · zip-off washable cover

BEDGEAR calls the Night Ice its coolest pillow yet and credits 3 layers: a Ver-Tex cover it calls instant-cooling, a React foam crown with cooling gel, and a React Blend fill with what it calls a Cooling Active Core, plus mesh panels and vents on all 4 sides. None of that comes with a surface temperature, a test method or lab data, and BEDGEAR's own FAQ is plainer than its product copy: only your body can regulate its temperature. You choose a height instead of a firmness, from 0.0 for stomach sleepers to 3.0 for side sleepers with broad shoulders, and BEDGEAR gives none of the 4 heights in inches. One side is slightly firmer than the other. The cover unzips and machine washes cold on a gentle cycle; the pillow itself is spot clean only. BEDGEAR claims no certification for it. Where it gives ground: it's the most expensive single piece on this page, there's no Queen size, you can return an opened pillow within 30 days but the return shipping is yours, and BEDGEAR's free shipping starts at $300 (read 2026-10-27), a cent above one Standard pillow. The King in height 2.0 was out of stock on October 27.

05 · BEST FIRM PILLOW THAT ISN'T FOAM

PineTales Buckwheat Pillow Platinum Edition: airflow by design, and no way back

$99 at 14 x 20 in, $179 at 20 x 26 in on a holiday sale, list $119 and $199 (verified 2026-10-27) · buckwheat hulls you add or remove · cover with a bamboo-rayon side and a Cool-Touch side · about 6.5 lb or 12 to 13 lb filled

Buckwheat is the other route for a hot sleeper who doesn't want foam, and PineTales makes the cooling case itself: it says the hulls' 3D shape lets air move through and helps limit heat buildup, and its padded outer cover has a bamboo-rayon side and a Cool-Touch side you flip between. You set the loft by pouring hulls in or out, and it arrives overfilled at about 6 to 7 inches thick. PineTales calls the hulls organic and names no certifier on the product page. Care is short and strict: wash the covers, never the hulls, which PineTales says to air in sunlight instead. Where it gives ground: buckwheat is firm by design and rustles when you move, and the 20 x 26 inch Standard weighs 12 to 13 pounds filled. The big one is returns. PineTales accepts no pillow returns, not even unopened ones, replaces items reported damaged within 7 days of delivery, and covers manufacturing defects for the first 2 months. The $20 holiday discount showed on the product page on October 27, and we didn't open the cart to see it applied. Buy the 14 x 20 inch Japanese Plus, the size PineTales says most of its customers choose, unless you know you want a US-size pillow.

Before you order

Which of these you can sleep on and send back

Bedding is hard to judge in a store and harder online, and the return terms on these 5 run from generous to none. Here they are in order, as each brand states them.

  • Bamboo Is Better Signature: a 60-night sleep trial on the product page, with free exchanges in the continental US and a $14.99 fee off a cash refund (read 2026-10-27). One policy page says 30 nights.
  • BEDGEAR Night Ice: opened pillows within 30 days of purchase and unopened within 100 days, per the product page. The refund policy counts the 30 days from delivery and puts return shipping on you.
  • Gokotta ClassicBreeze: 90 days on the product page, 30 on the Shopify refund policy page, and either way the set has to come back unused and unwashed, at your shipping cost.
  • Promeed: 60 days from purchase, unused and in the original packaging. Promeed pays return shipping only for a defect or its own mistake.
  • PineTales Platinum: no returns or exchanges, even unopened. Damage reported within 7 days of delivery gets a replacement, and manufacturing defects are covered for the first 2 months.

If you're unsure what suits you, that order is also the order of how safe each first purchase is. Only the first 2 take back something you've slept on, and only Bamboo Is Better gives you 60 nights to decide.

What we left out

Linen, blankets and the active systems

  • Linen: our one linen set, from Simple & Opulence, showed all 55 size and color combinations sold out on its store on October 27, 2026. We only list what you can buy today, so it's off this page until it's back in stock.
  • A third bamboo set: Hannah Linen's bamboo viscose sheets publish no thread count, weave or certificate number, and cost more than the Gokotta in every size the two share. We couldn't find a job it does better than one of the 2 sets above.
  • Blankets: the title says sheets and pillows, so no blankets are ranked here. Our post on cooling weighted blankets for hot sleepers covers that job.
  • Powered cooling: a water-cooled mattress system cools the bed itself and costs far more than anything on this page. Those are compared in best sleep tech 2026.
Frequently asked

Cooling sheet and pillow questions

Are bamboo sheets cooler than cotton?

That's the brands' claim, and neither of our 2 bamboo picks publishes a temperature result behind it. Bamboo Is Better says its Signature set sleeps cooler than cotton and gives no method. Gokotta calls its ClassicBreeze fabric breathable, moisture-wicking and cool to the touch, and says SGS tested its 310TC fabric for coolness under report SL92619325449801TX; Gokotta also says the report cover it has shows no numerical result. Both sets are viscose from bamboo, which both brands also call rayon, in a sateen weave: $104 for a Gokotta Queen (verified 2026-10-27) and $299 for a Bamboo Is Better Queen (verified 2026-10-27). We treat cooling as the seller's word and compare what each one publishes instead.

What thread count should cooling sheets have?

Read thread count as a weave detail, not a temperature figure. Gokotta publishes 310 on the ClassicBreeze product page (its store FAQ says 300), and Bamboo Is Better publishes 300 for the Signature. Neither brand publishes a temperature result at any thread count. The more useful number is fabric weight, and only Gokotta gives one: 130 GSM. Bamboo Is Better publishes no fabric weight.

What momme should a silk pillowcase be?

Momme is the weight of silk fabric, and a higher number is denser and costs more. Promeed sells 23, 25 and 30 momme, which it writes as 23mm, 25mm and 30mm. A single Queen case is $41.99 at 23 momme, $61.99 at 25 and $68.99 at 30 (verified 2026-10-27). We'd start at 25 momme, the middle of the range, and step up to 30 only if you want the densest weave Promeed sells.

Can you return cooling sheets or pillows after sleeping on them?

2 of our 5 picks let you. Bamboo Is Better's product page gives a 60-night sleep trial on the Signature sheets, with a $14.99 fee taken from a cash refund. BEDGEAR accepts opened Night Ice pillows within 30 days and unopened ones within 100, and its refund policy puts return shipping on the buyer. The other 3 don't take back anything you've used: Gokotta's product page shows a 90-day return, but preference returns must be unused and unwashed, and Promeed takes back unused items in original packaging within 60 days of purchase. PineTales accepts no pillow returns at all and covers manufacturing defects for the first 2 months.

Will these sheets fit a deep mattress?

Measure first if your mattress plus any topper is over 15 inches. Gokotta's ClassicBreeze has a 16 inch pocket on its size guide, and the product page says it fits 10 to 18 inch mattresses, while its store FAQ says up to 15 to 16. The Bamboo Is Better Signature has a 15 inch pocket with corner straps the brand says grip mattresses up to 18 inches, and its size guide rates the set for 15. Both fitted sheets have elastic all the way around.

Should a hot sleeper buy a foam cooling pillow or a buckwheat pillow?

Pick by feel, because neither maker publishes a temperature test. The BEDGEAR Night Ice is foam and fiber under a cover BEDGEAR calls instant-cooling, sold in 4 heights at $299.99 for a Standard (verified 2026-10-27), with a zip-off cover that machine washes. The PineTales Platinum is firm buckwheat hulls you adjust by hand, $119 list for the 14 x 20 inch size and $99 on the holiday sale its product page showed (verified 2026-10-27), and PineTales says the hulls let air move through and help limit heat buildup. BEDGEAR takes opened pillows back within 30 days; PineTales takes none back.

Methodology & sources

We haven't slept on, washed or handled any product on this page. We read each brand's own store on October 27, 2026, its product data, product page and refund policy, and checked that every pick was in stock in at least the Queen or Standard size that day. Specs, care and terms come from those pages and from our catalog records of the same pages, read between September 24 and October 1, 2026. We report fabric weight, thread count, momme and certificate numbers only where the brand publishes them, and we name the gap where it doesn't. Every temperature claim belongs to the brand that makes it. None of the 5 publishes a temperature result; Gokotta names an SGS coolness test and report number without one, and nothing here promises a sleep outcome.
