QUICK VERDICT
Six-person capacity in a barn-style outdoor cabin with a Canadian red cedar interior, at a price where most cabins seat two to four.
- Best for
- Households that will genuinely use six seats and want traditional stove heat outdoors, with the yard space and electrical capacity to support it.
- Drawback
- Sold through a multi-brand retailer, so warranty and service route through RecoSauna
- Editor score
- 7.5/10 (how we rank)
Capacity is the whole argument for the Kaarina. Most outdoor saunas at this price seat two to four, which quietly makes sauna a solo habit. Six seats makes it a household one, and that changes how often it actually gets used.
It is a traditional stove-heated sauna rather than infrared, running an 8.0 kW stove with built-in controls, so it produces the high heat and the option of steam that infrared cabins cannot. The interior is Canadian red cedar, the exterior is built for all-weather outdoor placement, and the barn profile is a genuine design choice rather than a shed with a heater in it.
Golden Designs also fits the entertainment features that infrared brands usually reserve for their flagships: interior ceiling galaxy star colour-therapy lighting, FM radio, Bluetooth and built-in speakers are standard rather than upgrades, behind a bronze privacy tempered glass door.
The footprint is worth planning around, and the two listings disagree on it: RecoSauna gives 69 by 84 by 95 inches outside and 78 by 63 by 88 inside, while Golden Designs gives 73 by 86 by 95 inches outside and 63 by 80 by 91 inside at the peak (width by depth by height), with the roof overhang adding another 4 inches of depth. Shipping is free within the US at 5 to 7 days.
Where it gives ground: this is retailer-sold, so warranty and service run through RecoSauna rather than Golden Designs. The warranty runs five years limited on the heating elements and electronics and one year limited on the wood components and structure, on residential terms. The listing states the electrical service as 240V / 40AMP for the stove and 120V / 15AMP for the lights and music controls, so have a certified electrician confirm the circuit before you order.
The buyer this suits: a household that will actually use six seats, wants traditional heat rather than infrared, and has the yard space and electrical headroom. The buyer who should skip: anyone saunaing alone or as a pair, anyone who wants infrared specifically, or a commercial buyer, since the stated warranty terms are residential.

Golden Designs Kaarina GDI-8506-01 - buyer FAQ
How many people does the Golden Designs Kaarina actually seat?
Six, which is the reason to choose it. Most outdoor saunas near $19,000 seat two to four, and that quietly turns sauna into a solo habit. If your household or regular guests will genuinely fill the seats, the capacity is worth more than the spec-sheet differences between cabins at this price.
Is the Kaarina infrared or traditional?
Traditional stove-heated, not infrared, with an 8.0 kW stove and built-in controls. That means higher air temperatures and the option of steam, which infrared cabins cannot produce. It also means a dedicated high-amperage circuit: the listing states 240V / 40AMP for the stove and 120V / 15AMP for the lights and music controls, so have a certified electrician confirm it before you order.
What does the Kaarina cost and is it ever discounted?
It is $18,999 at RecoSauna, verified on 30 September 2026, in one configuration, with no compare-at price on that listing. Golden Designs, the manufacturer, lists the same SKU, GDI-8506-01, on its own store at $10,999 against an $18,999 regular price on the same date, in stock, with no sale end date stated. Both figures were read from the product data of each store on that date.
What warranty does the Kaarina carry?
RecoSauna publishes five years limited on the heating elements and electronics, and one year limited on the wood components and sauna structure, for residential use. Golden Designs, the manufacturer, publishes a Hybrid/Outdoor Sauna Warranty page with a Limited Lifetime Warranty that its own footnote defines as five years on the wood structure, control panel, harnesses and lights, covering parts and not labor, with the stove covered by its own maker. The two sets of terms differ, so ask which one applies before ordering. Commercial buyers should confirm coverage separately, because the stated terms are residential.
